First announced back in February, for those looking for a spooky Halloween-themed game, look no further than Pumpkin Jack, a single-player 3D platformer akin to games like MediEvil and Jak & Daxter.

Set in the Boredom Kingdom, the Devil himself has become bored with humans peaceful existence and so uses a spell to unleash monsters on the land to shake things up a bit. In retaliation, humans resurrect a wizard, the only one capable of banishing the monsters back to where they came from. As retaliation against this, the Devil thus summons Pumpkin Jack, whose job it is to help evil succeed and find and destroy the wizard.

As well as platforming, the game features real-time combat, with Pumpkin Jack able to select from a multitude of weapons when rounding up to enemies, and also has puzzles to contend with, focussing on physics, gravity and reflection.

Jack also has help from companions, such as a crow and an owl, the crow helping with long-range attacks and the wise old owl offering guidance. The game also cryptically boasts of “new, exclusive gameplay” when faced with an action sequence.

Pumpkin Jack is due for release on October 23rd 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
