No first party exclusive games for Xbox Series X for awhile

In a break from the norm, Xbox Series X will be the first ever console in memory to be launched without any exclusive first party games to its name.

In an interview with MCV, Xbox Game Studios’ Matt Booty revealed that no exclusive first party games will be released for the new console for the next couple of years at the very least.

“As our content comes out over the next year, two years, all of our games, sort of like PC, will play up and down that family of devices. We want to make sure that if someone invests in Xbox between now and [Series X] that they feel that they made a good investment and that we’re committed to them with content,” Booty revealed.

Will the PS5 follow suit? Only time will tell. But this is certainly news that will garner mixed opinion, I would expect.

Both the Xbox Series X and the PS5 are due out at the end of the year.
