New Ghostbusters game looks similar to Sanctum of Slime

As a new Ghostbusters film is coming this year, Activision also has a new Ghostbusters game on the way, and, at least in terms of the top-down perspective, it’s looking to be pretty similar to the last game based on the comedy series, 2011’s Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime.

Like the film, the new game is simply titled Ghostbusters. But the events of the game take place after those of the film, and you won’t be taking control of any of the famous Ghostbusters either, as like Sanctum of Slime, you’ll be taking control of rookie Ghostbusters (male and female, if you’re wondering). The four playable characters have their own play style, contributing their own strengths to the ghost busting team. As for the female foursome from the new film? Well, their absence is explained by the fact that they’re touring the US to bust some ghosts.

Ghostbusters is a top-down action RPG, which obviously has you taking on ghosts, but you’ll also be able to level up your characters’ gear and abilities. There’s hidden collectibles to find in the New York playing environment as well.

There’s support for four player local play, but no mention has been made of any online play.

Ghostbusters is due to be released on July 15th on PS4, Xbox One and PC, which is the same day as the new film.
