At their Captivate event, Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma, an open-world fantasy action game for Xbox 360 and PS3.

The game utilizes an enhanced version of the engine that powered the visually stunning Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2. It’s also developed by the biggest team ever for a Capcom game, and the main people in charge of the project are producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi and director Hideaki Itsuno, both of which have had a hand in bringing to life some of Capcom’s biggest titles such as Resident evil 4 and Devil May Cry 4.

The premise of the game sees the lead character’s mind and heart being controlled by a dragon, allowing it to converse with him. There’s also the ability in boss fights that you can clamber around them, to seek out their weak spots, Shadow of the Colossus style.

Dragon’s Dogma is set for release early next year.
