And lots of people believe it is a match made in heaven! IO Interactive, along with MGM, EON Productions and Delphi, today announced that they are working on a new James Bond game, currently codenamed Project 007.

The game is currently in early development in their Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö, Sweden offices, and very little is known about it except that it is going to be an origin story. However, no doubt IO will take some inspiration from their popular Hitman series, so we can surely expect stealth, action and espionage aplenty.

Project 007 will be powered by IO Interactive’s Glacier technology, and will be the first Bond game since 2012’s 007 Legends.

IO CEO Hakan Abrakin said in a press release:

It’s true that once in a while, the stars do align in our industry. Creating an original Bond game is a monumental undertaking and I truly believe that IO Interactive, working closely with our creative partners at EON and MGM, can deliver something extremely special for our players and communities. Our passionate team is excited to unleash their creativity into the iconic James Bond universe and craft the most ambitious game in the history of our studio.
