Microïds and Paul Cuisset have announced that classic action adventure game Flashback will be released on Nintendo Switch on 7th June 2018.

The original game was initially created for the Mega Drive in 1992, but was only released for the Amiga until a year later when it was then ported to Super NES and other consoles, including the Mega Drive, in 1993. From then the game continued to be released on multiple platforms.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the game appearing on the Super NES, there will be a special Collectors Edition available in Europe and Australia, which will include a physical copy of the game, an exclusive numbered metal card, a 25-page retro-style instruction booklet, and a remastered version of the soundtrack. All this packaged in a retro cartridge-style metal case.

The Nintendo Switch version will allow players to choose between the old and new versions of the game, the new version containing post-FX graphic filters, a remastered soundtrack, a ‘rewind’ feature which varies based on difficulty, and tutorials for those in need of assistance.

Flashback follows Conrad B. Hart, a young scientist trapped on Titan, a colonised part of the Moon. He has been kidnapped and has to find his way back to Earth, warding off enemies as he finds a way home and unravelling an evil extra-terrestrial plot that threatens his home planet.
