Fighting game Fantasy Strike will be coming to the Nintendo Switch some time this summer, alongside the previously-announced PC and PlayStation 4 versions.

David Sirlin, lead designer of Street Fighter HD Remix, says of the game, “Fantasy Strike is the perfect fighting game for Switch. The Switch is a take-anywhere console, so fighting games would be great on it if not for how notoriously difficult they are to control. Usually, playing a fighting game on a JoyCon would be tough, but Fantasy Strike is designed specifically for that. Detach the JoyCons, give one to a friend, and you can play a deep, strategic fighting game anywhere.”

Fantasy Strike is described as a “competitive tournament game” where “fantasy meets martial arts” and “anything can become a weapon”. Emphasis has clearly been placed on controls that are smooth, simple and concise, but with the game itself still being ‘easy to get into’ and having ‘depth and balance’.

Other features include an Arcade mode with illustrated and voiced story sequences for each character and online play with quick match, ranked play (simulated 8-person tournaments), and friend match (allows for 1v1 matches and 3v3 team battles).

The game also supports local multiplayer, with 1v1 fights or team battles where you can have a roster of three characters each.
