More gameplay of The Last if Us Part II was shown in a new trailer. The gameplay confirms Ellie as a playable character, and shows her armed with a bow, knife and a backpack as she sneaks through a forest area whilst trying to avoid being killed by enemies.

Combat is shown as she takes down her foes while being hunted by them, and the improved sophistication of the enemies is also shown, revealing them to be more aware of their surroundings and communicating with one another more effectively, working together to find your position.

The violence is set against a slow-paced, romantic scene of Ellie dancing with a previously unknown character called Dina. Another new character is also shown, called Jesse.

An update on the PlayStation blog by game director Neil Druckmann says, “Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships. When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fuelled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits.”
