Street Fighter X Tekken, the previously rumoured cross-over project, has been officially announced at Comic Con by the publisher and developer of the game Capcom, and is coming to both Xbox 360 and PS3.

The game is powered by the beautiful Street Fighter IV engine and will share the stunning art-style of it. The character roster is obviously a combination of characters from both Capcom’s Street Fighter and Namco Bandai’s Tekken series and, whilst few have been confirmed, it will be sure to have all the favourites from both franchises.

As far as game mechanics and such go, there’s nothing much known yet, but there is two character tag battles confirmed, and presumably the game will share more in common with Street Fighter than it does Tekken, with it being developed by Capcom and all.

A similar project, developed by Namco Bandai was also announced, though details of this are at this point completely nonexistent. But obviously this will be the Tekken Team’s time to take the spotlight and will most likely be a 3D combo heavy fighter.

It will be interesting to see how both games turn out and of just how characters from very different games will fit in.

No release dates were mentioned for either game.
