It’s the 25th anniversary of the Zelda series this year, and Nintendo are certainly wanting to celebrate it, with the release of a Zelda game on all their current platforms.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening from the Gameboy will be appearing on the 3DS’ Virtual Console from today. Of course, later this month also sees The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D released on the handheld.

In September you’ll be able to download The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords for free on the DSi. Nice.

The Wii’s Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is also due to release towards the end of the year, Nintendo revealed. There will also be a special gold Wii Remote Plus released alongside the game, and two soundtrack CD’s can also be expected, one of which is the Ocarina of Time soundtrack (which you’ll receive for nothing if you register your purchase of Ocarina of Time 3D with Club Nintendo early enough), while the other will be orchestral music from Zelda’s worldwide classical tour.

2011 is obviously the year of Zelda.
