News – Yooka-Laylee release date locked down
April 11th is the day you’ll be able to immerse yourself in some classic platforming action, as developer Playtonic Games have revealed this day as the release for Yooka-Laylee. The game will cost £34.99.
With people from Rare involved and two characters (a lizard and a bat), the colourful platforming game is very reminiscent of the likes of the Banjo games on the N64, although due to technical issues, the Wii U version has sadly been cancelled, with the game coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux. A Nintendo Switch version is also looking likely.
If you happened to back the Wii U version during its Kickstarter campaign, Playtonic have promised that you’ll be able to switch to another platform. You can also email the developer to discuss a refund, if you’d prefer.
Back to the platforms that the game is actually releasing on, and those who pre-order the game will unlock the Yooka-Laylee Toybox, which gives you a taste of the mechanics of the cartoon platformer inside of a self-contained sandbox.
