News – What to expect from WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011’s online options

THQ thinks that this year’s WWE SmackDown vs. Raw is going to offer the most comprehensive features yet seen in the series’ online mode. I certainly can’t argue with them.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 includes an online Royal Rumble for the very first time. This mode allows up to 12 players to fight it out, with six in the ring at a time. Other modes that Yukes and THQ had previously left ignored also go online this year, including the likes of Money in the Bank (an annual WrestleMania fixture, which also had its own pay per view earlier in the year), Elimination Chamber and Championship Scramble matches.

That’s not all though, the popular create and share options return better than ever. You can now share created move sets and paint tool logos, and you can even download content created by others and edit it as you see fit.

For the downloadable content served by the people behind the game themselves, a WWE Shop feature will allow you to easily find it, which is always nice.

There’s also over 30 online leaderboards and this includes community creations, with your position increasing as more people download your created content.

All these features sound great and THQ say that they have tested the game to assure that it performs satisfactorily online, so let’s just hope that lag doesn’t appear too often. For those wondering when the game might be out, well it’s out October 29th, yes that’s next Friday. Formats? Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP and PS2.
