SEGA’s much cherished Super Monkey Ball series is coming to PlayStation Vita.

New worlds, new mini games and returning ones (including Monkey Target), and a multiplayer mode for up to four players can be expected, oh and not forgetting the cute monkeys that have given the series such personality. SEGA have also said that the game will make full use of Vita, with the dual analog sticks and front and back touch panels being utilised. A 40 second teaser trailer can be viewed at the bottom of the page.

Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA of America, commented in the official announcement:

“Since evolving onto the current generation of consoles, the Super Monkey Ball franchise has always offered innovative game design, challenging the hardware capabilities for all the consoles it has released on.”

“Super Monkey Ball on PlayStation Vita is a great opportunity to experience the exciting features that the PlayStation Vita offers, and the SEGA development team are bringing a exciting new experience whilst staying true to the franchise”

The game will be released in early 2012. A Vita launch title, perhaps?
