SEGA have announced that Sonic and Tails are to be given life by fresh voice talent and that the majority of the recurring characters have also had their voice actors recast. In the games, Sonic was previously voiced by Ryan Drummond from 1999 to 2004 and more recently by Jason Griffith, and his new voice will be done by none other than Roger Craig Smith who has had high profile roles in games such as Resident Evil 5 (he voiced beefy Chris Redfield) and Assassin’s Creed 2 (he took on the role of the Italian lead character, Ezio Auditore Di Firenze, with great confidence). We interviewed the talented voice actor before the release of Resident Evil 5.

Tails will be voiced by Kate Higgins who, according to Wikipedia, has done a fair few gaming roles. Dr Robotnik (I refuse to call him Eggman!) will still be voiced by Mike Pollock. The actor has played the role since 2005.

As far as Sonic games go, on the horizon is the episodic and downloadable Sonic 4 (Xbox 360, Wii, PS3), Sonic Colours on Wii and Sonic Free Riders on Xbox 360, which will support Kinect.
