Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time has been delayed until February next year, Sony has announced.

The game is a series revival that isn’t developed by series creator Sucker Punch. This might very well start alarm bells ringing, though the game is developed by Sanzaru Games, the company that first approached Sony with the idea of a fourth game. They went on to develop the Sly Trilogy, a HD remastering of the previous three games, which was wonderfully executed.

Thieves in Time takes place following the events of Sly 3 and sees Sly and company attempting to get back the Thievious Raccoonus, a book that chronicles the Cooper family line.

Like past games there are multiple player characters, each with their own skills, and a first for the series is the chance to play as Sly’s ancestors. Another new addition are costumes, which whenever worn grant Sly new abilities, for instance a suit of armour allows you to reflect projectiles. You’re also able to return to locations, to make use of a costumes abilities to gain access to new areas.
