News – Sci-fi RPG Songbringer releasing this summer
Songbringer is a procedurally generated RPG that takes place in a 13,000 B.C Milky Way, and it’s all the work of a single man. Nathanael Weiss handled everything including the programming, design, art, music, as well as the business side of things.
The game’s shirtless protagonist is Roq and he’s basically looking around the galaxy for the ultimate party. He’s flying around the place in the Songbringer party ship, hence the title. Things don’t remain as simple as this though, as Roq carelessly awakens an ancient evil army.
The pixel-art RPG includes 10 dungeons, although as they are procedurally generated this allows for 308 million unique environment combinations. If you want to share the world in your current adventure though, you can do just that with sharing a six-letter world seed code, which is given to you at the start of each fresh adventure.
As the below video shows, the combat is fast and includes unique weapons such as a a top hat that works like a boomerang, a humming nanosword, the ghost sword projectile, and there’s also bombs as well.
Puzzles can also be expected, and as Roq has a companion in robot Jib, local multiplayer is also a possibility.
Songbringer is due for release this summer on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux.
