Konami has announced an overhaul of the online matchmaking system in PES 2012, which will punish those who quit from games.

Apparently, the matchmaking will now regularly match you up with people whose manner more matches up to your own. Quitters meanwhile won’t be able to enter competitions, and a soiled reputation will see them matched up against other dirty players when playing online. Take that, you idiots.

“Online is a key element to PES 2012 and we have worked hard to deliver options that enhance both the competitive edge of the game, and that bolster the solo modes in Master League Online,” European PES team leader Jon Murphy revealed.

“Those that have previously exploited online loop holes will be punished, while the stunning Active AI will bring a real edge to online games – with the results logged into leagues of your friends and peers. PES 2012 is all about skill, playing a team’s strengths and flowing football – who wouldn’t want to share that with their mates!”

PES 2012 will be released on October 14th on Xbox 360 and PS3, with other versions to follow at a later date.
