The next game in the Thief series is in development at Eidos Montreal. It’s simply called Thief and will arrive in 2014 for PC, PS4 and other next generation platforms it has been revealed.

The game sees the usual series lead Garrett return to the city as he attempts to become rich through stealing. The city is however suffering from a plague and ruled by tyrant, the Baron, of which is sure to make Garrett’s objective all the more difficult.

For the most part, the game will be from the first person perspective and will feature multiple routes. There’s also a focus mechanic, which displays objects that you’re able to interact with such as walls you can climb and lights that can be extinguished and there’s attack points you can use to escape from enemies. The ability also allows you to slow down time to make pickpocketing a easier process.

The enemy AI is said to be clever enough to understand the layout of the environment and know of hiding places. Garrett’s equipment includes a bow, grappling hook, club and lockpicks. Meanwhile listening in on the conversation of others is an important element, allowing you to learn details about your environment that could prove to be helpful.
