Metroid Prime: Federation Force may have had negative feedback since its unveiling for the 3DS at last year’s E3, although in no way has this stopped the release of the game, and it’s now due for release on September 2nd.

The game is a spin-off from the Metroid Prime series, and the focus actually lies in cooperative multiplayer as well as in the shooting. Taking control of a Galactic Federation marine, series heroine Samus also takes a backseat.

Federation Force also features a team-based mode called Blast Ball, which is inspired by football, although you shoot the ball towards and into the net.

It remains to be seen if the game will be better received upon its release, and only time will tell if it’s a worthy spin-off from a much loved series.
