God of War: Ascension will be released on the 15th of March, Sony has announced.

You’ll once again take charge of Kratos and do what he does best, which is grisly things such as ripping heads off, breaking spines and releasing rivers of blood from his opponents, amongst other things. Like PSP iterations, God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta, the game will take place at an earlier point in Kratos’s violent life. It will also be the first game in the series to have multiplayer support, which should, if nothing else, offer a fresh experience.

There will also be two special editions available. The collector’s edition will come in a premium steelbook and inside it will be a 8″ Kratos figurine, a digital version of the soundtrack, a dynamic theme and avatar pack. There will also be a double XP bonus for the multiplayer component as well as a DLC pass, which allows you to get all of the games DLC for no additional cost. Meanwhile the special edition has much the same content but is lacking the season pass and Kratos figurine of the pricier edition.
