Microsoft has announced that Games With Gold is coming to Xbox One in June.

The first free games will be puzzle platformer Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and top down multiplayer shooter Halo: Spartan Assault. Unlike the Xbox 360, you’ll have to keep subscribing to Xbox Live Gold to access the games, much like Sony’s PlayStation Plus service.

As for Xbox 360 Games With Gold games next month. Owners of Microsoft’s previous console will be able to download the challenging and atmospheric Dark Souls, finely honed fighting game Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and quirky side scrolling fighting game, Charlie Murder.

Also arriving in June is Deals With Gold, which offers exclusive deals for Xbox Live subscribers apparently offering savings of as much as 50-75 per cent off some games. Forza Motorsport 5 and Ryse: Son of Rome are the first games to get their prices slashed in the promotion, along with some surprises, Microsoft says.

In further Xbox Live Gold related news, Microsoft has confirmed the entertainment apps will no longer require an Xbox Live Gold subscription, meaning the likes of Internet Explorer, Twitch, Netflix and Skype will now be available to all Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners from early next month.
