Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been given a European release date of February 3rd, Square Enix has announced.

With the game, the development team has took on board the criticism of Final Fantasy XIII, keeping all the strengths of that iteration, such as the combat system and lovely visuals, but reintroducing proper towns and a more open world, but also at the same tim something that I’m pretty sure no one asked to come back, that being random battles

It also has new additions such as more cinematic battles, which you guessed it sees QTE’s being introduced. There’s also around 150 monsters that you can capture and use in battle, sadly not at the same time, but you can’t have everything.

Lightning’s younger sister Serah is this time around a playable character alongside new guy, Noel. All the XIII characters make appearances throughout, though no world on if they will remain key characters, though XIII heroine Lightning looks to play a big role.

Though not the strongest of the series by any stretch and I lamented some of the omissions, I still however found a lot to like with Final Fantasy XIII. We don’t have long to wait to see how Final Fantasy XIII-2 compares.
