Believe it or not, but Beyond Flesh and Blood is a mech shooter set on the streets of Manchester in the year 2281.

Humans have apparently left earth due to an earlier war though, and those who remain only see our planet through warring mechs and drones, which are controlled through VR by the people who are now living in orbit.

So why has the developer chosen a future Manchester for its backdrop then? The people behind the game, Pixelbomb Games, are actually based in Manchester themselves, so that answers that question. For those who live in or are familiar with the Northern city, I’m sure it will be interesting for them to pick out landmarks that are in a future state of disrepair.

Beyond Flesh and Blood is due for release in the first quarter of this year on Xbox One and PC. The game will be released digitally and boxed, with the latter happening thanks to a newly signed deal with Sold Out.
