Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (the name will be familiar to many) is the game that Burnout developer Criterion have been beavering away on. It’s looking superb too.

The police are once again back on your tail and it’s even possible to play as one of the boys in blue. So, you’ll be speeding to get away from the police as a street racer, and attempting to catch them when inside of a police car.

There’s even weapons, too, including radar jammers and a burst from an EMP. The police are even able to call in AI backup (including a helicopter!), adding to the thrill of the chase.

Craig Sullivan, Creative Director of the game had this to say “At Criterion, we’ve been playing Need for Speed since it was first introduced on 3DO. We are honored and excited by the opportunity to reinvent the franchise for today’s connected audience. Our goal has been to create cops vs. racers pursuits that are so fun, fast and exciting it really brings to life the adrenaline and intensity of the high speed cop pursuit experience with your friends”.

The game is also set in a varied open-world, and could possibly be one of the best Need for Speed games in years when it is released in November on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.
